Volkswagen has embarked on a new electrification strategy in the wake of the diesel emissions scandal and set a goal to sell between 2 million and 3 million fully electric vehicles a year by 2025.
If Volkswagen achieves its goal, EV sales could represent up to 25% of total global sales.
Volkswagen is planning to roll out more than 30 new battery-electric vehicles in the next decade and develop competencies in battery technology, digitalization, and automated driving, Volkswagen AG announced on June 16.
In a related move, the company is launching a mobility unit to offer products and services around ride hailing and other on-demand mobility services such as robotaxis and carsharing.
