Thanks to the strong economy that the U.S. is enjoying, U.S. commercial companies have been able to invest more money into their fleets, and strong fleet sales are a reflection of that.

We’re about to launch the most audacious stage for the company yet as the Bobit family has decided to sell the family business to Westport, Conn.-based Gemspring Capital.
Bobit Business Media has been acquired by Gemspring Capital, a middle-market private equity firm. Bobit, which bought HDT in 2012, was founded by Ed Bobit in 1961 with Automotive Fleet and today is a successful business-to-business media company in the fleet, transportation, beauty, and law enforcement industries.
The mainstream media may have sold out lock stock and barrel to the fringe elements but as a fleet decision maker you still have some tremendous resources that you can rely on.
Three years have gone by since our founder Ed Bobit passed away. In many ways it feels like an eternity but in other ways it feels like he was just here yesterday. He was a larger-than-life force and left quite an impact on me, and on the fleet industry.
Time is running out to take advantage of the hotel room discount for the Fleet Technology Expo (FTX), which will be held October 17-19 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, Ill.
Fleet Technology Expo will include three days of education on tactics for optimizing fleet software and data and alternative-fuel adoption, information on the latest technologies you'll see in your fleet in the not-so-distant future, strategies for reducing fuel use and maintenance costs, and more.
The Fleet Technology Expo will take place from Oct. 17-19, 2016 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill.
Compared to the 2014 Green Fleet Conference & Expo, fleet attendee count for the now renamed and expanded show has so far doubled in 2015.
As we approach the one-year anniversary of the passing of Ed Bobit, it prompts me once again to honor this industry icon and friend. For those who knew Ed, you know he and I had diametrically opposite personalities. But, our common bond was the love of fleet and a mutual shared labor of love called Automotive Fleet. My almost 30-year relationship with Ed is comprised of many fond remembrances. A few stand out because they provide insights into Ed’s personality and who he was as a person.
