TORRANCE, CA - Toyota Motor Corp. has settled a patent-infringement dispute with Paice LLC, ending a legal battle that had threatened to block the Prius from being sold in the U.S., the Associated Press reported.

The terms of the settlement are confidential, the companies said. But all lawsuits between the two companies have been dismissed.

Paice, based in Bonita Springs, Fla., had claimed that such popular Toyota hybrids as the Prius and Lexus HS250h featured technology that violated Paice's patents for hybrid engines. Paice first filed a lawsuit against Toyota in 2004. A second lawsuit was filed in 2007.
