Schwan's Home Service, ThyssenKrupp Partner with Clean Cities

October 10, 2011

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities program announced that Schwan's Home Delivery and ThyssenKrupp Elevator have joined the National Clean Fleets Partnership.

The partnership, housed within Clean Cities, provides support to large private fleets seeking to reduce petroleum use through the deployment of alternative fuels, electric vehicles, fuel economy improvements, and other strategies. President Obama first announced the Clean Fleets Partnership in April.

Schwan's and ThyssenKrupp join 12 other Clean Fleets Partners: PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, Coca-Cola, Osram Sylvania, FedEx, Staples, Enterprise Holdings, General Electric, Ryder, Verizon, AT&T and UPS. Together, the 14 Clean Fleets Partners operate more than 1 million vehicles nationally.

Through the National Clean Fleets Partnership, DOE provides partners with specialized resources, technical expertise, and support to reduce their use of gasoline and diesel fuel. National partners benefit from peer-to-peer information exchange, collaboration with DOE and its laboratories, and assistance in pursuing group purchasing of advanced vehicles.

DOE's Mark Smith made the announcement from Grapevine, Texas, at the 2011 Green Fleet Conference.
