Ford Spotlights Escape Hybrid E85 at Auto Show

At the Washington Auto Show, Ford unveiled the Ford Escape Hybrid E85, a research vehicle marrying two petroleum-saving technologies --- hybrid electric power and flexible-fuel capability.

Biodiesel is a fuel made from natural oils such as soybean and other types of vegetable oil that’s designed to work in diesel engines. Biodiesel is often blended with petroleum diesel to create fuels such as B-5 and B-20. Ethanol is used in flex-fuel engine systems and derived primarily from corn. E-85 is a blend of 85 percent denatured fuel ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.
