EPA Finalizes Volumes for Biofuel Blending

The U.S Environmental Protection Agency has finalized the volume requirements under its Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for blending with the nation's fuel supply that includes increases from existing levels but falls short of expectations from producers.

Biodiesel is a fuel made from natural oils such as soybean and other types of vegetable oil that’s designed to work in diesel engines. Biodiesel is often blended with petroleum diesel to create fuels such as B-5 and B-20. Ethanol is used in flex-fuel engine systems and derived primarily from corn. E-85 is a blend of 85 percent denatured fuel ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.
