New Renewable Diesel Fuel Gaining Ground

A new kind of renewable diesel fuel is gaining greater adoption because it's nearly indistinguishable from petroleum-based counterparts and offers a higher quality biofuel to meet federal mandates as well as customer demand, according to federal data.

Biodiesel is a fuel made from natural oils such as soybean and other types of vegetable oil that’s designed to work in diesel engines. Biodiesel is often blended with petroleum diesel to create fuels such as B-5 and B-20. Ethanol is used in flex-fuel engine systems and derived primarily from corn. E-85 is a blend of 85 percent denatured fuel ethanol and 15 percent gasoline.
