Joseph Thompson has been named chief operations officer (COO) of walk-in step van developer Morgan Olson, the company announced June 13.

In his role, Thompson will be responsible for all aspects of product delivery – from ideation and engineering to commercial operations and human resources.

“I’m looking forward to this challenge with a focus on operational growth required to take Morgan Olson to the next market and product leadership phase by being responsible for past, present, and future commercial development and operational excellence,” Thompson said in the news release.

Mike Ownbey, Morgan Olson’s President & CEO, added, “Joe’s leadership experience and industry expertise will guide Morgan Olson’s vision and growth while keeping our company at the forefront of innovation and collaboration with our valued customers and suppliers.”

Thompson arrives at Morgan Olson with extensive experience.

Before joining Morgan Olson, Thompson served as group president of Roush Products Group for nine years, leading initiatives in product innovation, strategic planning, and cross-functional team building.

He was accountable for multiple P&Ls, talent development, tactical implementation, and long-term customer relationships. During this time, he was the creator of their strategic business plan, secured start-up grant funding, negotiated multi-year-supply agreements, organizational development, product innovation, government affairs, and transportation industry leadership.
