There have been persistent reports of severe and accelerated corrosion in storage tanks and dispensing equipment, ever since the EPA mandated the introduction of ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD). The Clean Diesel Fuel Alliance was formed, which commissioned a survey to investigate these reports. The results were released on Sept.5, 2012. The 146-page report says it has identified the possible cause of corrosion in systems stroing and dispensing ULSD.
RENO, NV - The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) has designated GDiesel, manufactured by Advanced Refining Concepts, LLC, (ARC), as an alternative fuel in Nevada’s Alternative Fueled Vehicles in Fleets program.
The EPA mandated the use of ULSD, effective June 1, 2006. Since then, there has been an uptick in reports of fuel-related problems, such as corrosion in storage tanks and dispensing systems, onboard vehicle fuel tank corrosion, clogged filters, and seal and gasket deterioration. What has the industry scratching its "collective head" is the chronological correlation between the uptick in fuel-related problems and the introduction of ULSD. Is there a connection between the two?
