The California unified school district (USD) saves a significant amount in fuel costs each year thanks to its CNG, plug-in hybrid, and other alternative-fuel vehicles. The CNG models alone have saved the district more than $105,000 per year.
The California Energy Commission approved $678,889 to projects that will boost the number of alternative-fuel vehicles on the state’s roadways. The awards were made through the Commission’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program.
