Two electric vehicle demonstration projects were recently completed by TransPower, developing Class 8 trucks and yard tractors for real-world use through grant funding. Meritor is an investor in TransPower.
Meritor has announced an additional strategic investment in TransPower, an electrification technologies provider for large commercial vehicles, to support future growth.
Drive axles for battery-electric vehicles will feature integrated motors. This eliminates the drivetrain, creates room for batteries, and puts the axle maker in charge of powering the vehicle.
“There is a sea change in our industry with regard to electrification of the drivetrain,” said Jay Craig, CEO of Meritor, at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show.
