Owners of hybrid and battery-electric vehicles are trading in their alternative fuel vehicles for gasoline powered vehicles, according to new research from Edmunds.com.

CAMPBELL, CA - Edmunds.com has installed a ChargePoint networked charging station, manufactured by Coulomb Technologies, at the Edmunds.com headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif. The EV charging station will allow the automotive Web site's staff to test electric vehicles (EVs) and other plug-in cars.
"As a general rule, we found that diesels are more affordable than hybrids, taking into account the vehicles' prices, tax credits and fuel usage," notes Edmunds' AutoObserver.com Senior Editor Bill Visnic.
