Toyota Motor Corp., a partner of the Olympic and Paralympic games, has announced that it will provide a full line-up of electric vehicles to support the 2020 Tokyo Games, the automaker reports.

A total of 3,700 mobility products and vehicles will be provided featuring a line up of unique versions of certain vehicles and vehicles developed specifically in support of the Games. About 90% of the official vehicle fleet will include electric power. This includes hybrid-electric vehicles, fuel-cell electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles, and battery-electric vehicles.  Among those provided, Toyota will include approximately 500 FCEVs and 850 BEVs.

The official fleet will provide transportation support between venues during the Olympic Games. These will be commercially-available vehicles, such as the Mirai.

The e-palette, Toyota’s first battery-electric vehicle designed for shared autonomous transport, will transport staff and athletes on a continuous loop within the Olympic and Paralympic Village.

The Toyota Concept-i will be used during the Olympic torch relay and as a lead vehicle in the marathon. It will also demonstrate Level 4 autonomous driving during test rides on public roads surrounding the Toyota City Showcase.

In addition, Toyota will also support Olympic operations with other vehicles, including a mass-transit Fuel Cell Bus “Sora,” Fuel Cell forklifts, and other mobility options.
