Minnesota-based carsharing service Hourcar announced a partnership with Xcel Energy to convert its fleet to entirely electric vehicles by 2020.

The service is aimed at providing all-electric, hub-based, one-way transportation. Instead of returning vehicles to their pickup location, drivers can deposit a vehicle at a designated hub area.

The partnership is motivated by the effects of vehicle emissions in low-income communities, where children are more at risk of developing asthma and health issues as a result of air pollution.
