Montgomery County, Ohio, has converted its refuse fleet to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The county expects to save $150,000 annually in fuel, reports Dayton Daily News.

The new refuse trucks cost $204,000 each, about $40,000 more than a diesel tractor trailer. With these purchases, the county expects to improve local air quality, and reduce fuel and maintenance costs. Earlier this year, the county opened a CNG station for government and public use. The station is operated by IGS Energy.
