Customers now placing orders for Tesla's Model 3 can expect delivery of the cars in the middle to late 2018, while those who put down initial deposits can expect their sedans in late 2017, a Tesla spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal.

Tesla published the new timeline on its pre-order page, and it has been confirmed by TechCrunch. The battery-electric sedan is expected to sell for $35,000 and deliver 215 miles of driving range.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the Model 3 on March 31, and began taking pre-orders with a refundable $1,000 deposit. Prospective buyers have reserved 373,000 Model 3s.
