Hyundai's Tucson Fuel Cell has accumulated more than 1 million miles on Southern California roads since its introduction as a retail-leased compact SUV in June of 2014.

Hyundai has leased nearly 100 hydrogen-powered Tucson SUVs to drivers since introducing the vehicle. The drivers have reduced about 385 tons of carbon-dioxide emissions that would have been emitted from a similarly sized vehicle, Hyundai has announced.

Hyundai service engineers, with permission from vehicle owners, receive periodic mileage updates from the Tucson Fuel Cell vehicles, which allows them to calculate cumulative mileage totals to assess fuel cell stack maintenance status.
