FCA US is planning an extensive revamp of its Chrysler Town & Country for the 2016 model year that includes introducing a plug-in hybrid version of the minivan, the company announced Sept. 1.

The Town & Country is expected to enter its sixth generation with "exquisite styling, a beautifully crafted interior, 55 available safety and technology features, smart and cutting edge entertainment features, and clever seating and storage options," according to a release.

FCA US will also release a limited Anniversary Edition of the minivan to tie into the 90th anniversary of the Chrysler brand. The special model adds features to the Touring-L model including power sunroof, bright door handles, heated first- and second-row seats, heated steering wheel and Keyless Enter ‘n Go.

Chrysler refreshed its 200 mid-size sedan and 300 full-size sedan for the 2015 model year.
