Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is expected to close its only North America plant, and focus its attention on growing markets in Asia, according to a Reuters report.

The company has declined comment on the report, which initially came from Japan's Nikkei news service. The company is expected to shutter its plant in Normal, Illinois.

Mitsubishi has seen declining demand for its vehicles and is facing an expiring union contract.

Mitsubishi now offers six vehicles to U.S. buyers, including the Lancer, Lancer Evolution, Mirage, and i-Miev cars. The company offers the Outlander Sport and Outlander SUVs.
