With half of 2015 in the books, Tesla Motors is less than 40 percent toward meeting its full-year goal of delivering 55,000 vehicles this year.
Tesla delivered 11,507 Model S battery-electric vehicles in the second quarter to go with 10,045 vehicles in the first quarter for 21,552 so far. However, Tesla is set to release the highly anticipated Model X battery-electric SUV later in the year.
Earlier this year, Tesla set its 2015 full-year goal to deliver approximately 55,000 Model S and Model X vehicles combined, the company noted in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
There may be small changes to this delivery count (usually well under 1 percent), as Tesla only counts a delivery if it is transferred to the end customer and all paperwork is correct, according to the company.
