Polaris Industries is recalling 628 2009-2010 model-year GEM eL XD hybrid electric cars because the frame welds between the cab and cargo bed might crack, increasing the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall affects vehicles manufactured from Nov. 25, 2008, to Dec. 30, 2010.

The remedy for this recall is still under development, NHTSA said, but the recall is expected to begin this month.

Vehicle owners can reach Polaris customer service at (888) 704-5290.
