Toyota plans to produce a gasoline-electric hybrid version of its RAV4 compact SUV for the 2016 model year, and will provide more details about the vehicle on April 2 at the New York International Auto Show.
Toyota released a teaser photo of the vehicle showing the hybrid model as a Limited trim level.
The RAV4 Hybrid would be the second alternative-fuel model of Toyota's compact SUV, following the RAV4 EV that the automaker produced from 1997 to 2003 as a fleet lease model.
In 2013, commercial fleets added 1,903 RAV4 gasoline models and 19 RAV4 EVs, according to Automotive Fleet data.
