Utah State University researchers tested a truck at the Bonneville Salt Flats that was partially powered by a biofuel made of algae and safflower seeds, reports the Deseret News.

Researchers took a Dodge Rampage with a small diesel engine up to nearly 135 mph on a B-20 blend of biodiesel made from algae and safflower. The fuel used is relatively expensive but could come down in price over time.

The team couldn't definitively say if they set a record because the board governing the flats doesn't keep track of biodiesel top-speed records.
