The Los Angeles Police Department has purchased the Zero MMX battery-electric motorcycle to use for stealth enforcement, the company has announced.

The agency selected the Zero MMX following extensive testing for its nearly noiseless operation, low cost and powertrain that doesn't require maintenance.

"It costs less than 50 cents to charge compared to using gallons of gas, maintenance is simple, and the community appreciates how quiet they are," said Officer Steve Carbajal of the agency's off-road unit. "Most importantly, our officers have an added tactical advantage while on patrol."
