Honda once again wins the annual award, this time for its Accord, which is available in gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The car manufacturer took home the award in 2012 for its Civic Natural Gas model.

"I want to say thank you to Green Car Journal, not just for honoring Accord, but for shining a spotlight on the environment and our shared vision for an ultra-low carbon future," said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of Automobile Operations at American Honda.

The Accord was among five vehicles nominated for the annual award, which included the Audi A6 TDI, BMW 328d, Mazda3, and Toyota Corolla. Unlike past years, no electric cars were in the running for the 2013 Green Car of the Year.
