SCHAUMBURG, IL - At the 2012 Green Fleet Conference in Schaumburg, Ill., one of the sessions featured an overview of how E.A. Sween/Deli Express worked with its key suppliers to develop a vehicle that fit the company's needs.

The process included facilitating close working relationships among it's vehicle supplier, Isuzu Commercial truck of America; its vehicle upfitter, Johnson Refrigerated Truck Bodies and Thermo King; and its fleet management company, ARI. The result: an innovative, lightweight new truck design that significantly reduces fuel consumption and the company's carbon footprint.

In addition, the fleet has been able to increase driver awareness about sustainability. According to Gregg Hodgdon, CAFM, E.A. Sween/Deli Express' fleet manager, the drivers are more attuned to the company's green efforts, noting that any drop in their fuel economy draws immediate concerns. Many of these drivers were involved in the original pilot for the vehicle.
