WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem Regional Clean Transportation Meeting focused on propane autogas last week. Steve Whaley, from the national Alliance AutoGas network, shared his insights on this alternative fuel.

The event featured a number of vehicles converted by Alliance Autogas, including a Davidson County Ford E450 shuttle bus, a Ford E350 van from the Iredell County Area Transportation System, an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Ford Crown Victoria, and an additional Alliance AutoGas police cruiser.

Captain Mike Phillips of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said running their fleet vehicles on autogas is helping the county save on both fuel and maintenance costs, according to Alliance Autogas.

The event washeld at the Forsyth County Office of Environmental Assistance and Protection by Triad Air Awareness, and also covered topics such as the launching of a new Clean Cities Coalition in North Carolina and regional plug-in electric vehicle planning.
