TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA - Electric vehicle manufacturer ZENN Motor Co. announced that Ian Clifford resigned from his position as CEO and assumed the role of vice chair of the board of directors.

Clifford founded the company in 2001. According to the company, the move is a cost-cutting measure that will also free Clifford to focus more on maintaining ZMC's relationship with technology partner EEStor Inc. Texas-based EEStor is developing battery technology for electric vehicles.

Brian Cott is the new president and CEO. Cott joined Toronto-based ZMC in 2006 as president and chief operating officer, shortly after ZMC became a publicly listed company.

"I am excited about our current plans and activities and firmly believe that our ZENNergy technologies and solutions will have a major impact on the electrification of the automotive industry," Cott said.
