TACOMA, WA - The City of Tacoma is looking to purchase new electric vehicles and hybrids for its fleet. City Council approved the purchase on Jan. 25.

The Council approved the purchase of (10) 2011 Nissan LEAF electric vehicles, (70) 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor vehicles, and (11) 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid detective vehicles in the amount of $2.6 million. According to city documents, the new vehicles will be budgeted from the Fleet Equipment Rental Capital Outlay Fund and the contract awarded to Columbia Ford Lincoln Mercury Nissan Inc.

In 2010, the City of Tacoma was recognized as a 100 Best Fleet.
