LAS VEGAS - Ford Motor Co. is expected to unveil its Ford Focus Electric at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, according to USA Today's Web site.

CES takes place Jan. 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton and the Venetian.

This year's show will include the "Electric Vehicle TechZone," highlighting a range of high- and low-speed vehicles, energy storage devices and charging equipment.

The Ford Focus Electric, available in late 2011, will be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Mich. Production will occur on the same line as the gasoline version of the Focus. The Focus Electric's motor will be powered by a 23 kwh lithium-ion battery.
