SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Police Department is giving stand-up scooters (not Segways) a two-week trial, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Officer Richard Lee, who is coordinating the program, cited the cost savings of using the scooters. He said it costs $62 daily to run a vehicle, while the scooters run "six to eight hours on 44 cents." Lee said the vehicles are already used in airports and police departments in Southern California.
