MONTGOMERY, AL - Two Alabama state committees are busy exploring ways for the state to use alternative fuel in its fleet in order to comply with new state requirements.

The Green Fleet Review Committee and the Interagency Task Force on Alternative Fuels in June hosted two briefings in the Capitol auditorium. State department heads and fleet managers were invited to attend, WJHG TV News reported.

Meeting organizers arranged to have about 16 alternative-fueled vehicles on display outside the Capitol so state officials could see first-hand what options are available.

Fuel options highlighted included E85, biodiesel, propane, electricity and natural gas, WNCF TV News reported. Officials must report fleet details and costs by the end of September.
