ANNAPOLIS, MD - The state of Maryland launched a program this week that offers $1 in grants to further the use of electric vehicles, the Baltimore Business Journal reported.

The funding will be made available to state and local government agencies, nonprofit groups and private companies primarily to help them invest in vehicle charging infrastructure.

The Maryland Energy Administration and Maryland Clean Cities Coalition will issue the grants. The coalition is a U.S. Department of Energy program aimed at promoting the use of alternative fuels.
