PUEBLO, CO - Two Pueblo County commissioners announced they are giving up their county-owned cars and will drive their own vehicles to work and on county business, according to The Pueblo Chieftain.

Commissioner John Cordova said he returned a 2008 Chevy Impala to the county fleet last week and Commission Chairman Jeff Chostner said in December he will give up the 2008 GMC Acadia assigned to him. Commissioner Anthony Nunez also said he hadn't made a final decision, but was likely to do the same with the 2006 GMC Envoy he is driving, reported the Chieftain.

Fleet Director Carl Chavez estimated that commissioners have had the option of assigned cars for more than 35 years. Last summer, however, commissioners were scrutinized after a televised news report questioned the "perk" and use of county-owned cars on personal business.

County department heads who work for the commissioners will also review the use of their cars, according to the Chieftain.
