SPARKS, MD - PHH Arval, a subsidiary of PHH Corporation, recently announced the winners of its 2009 Business Impact Awards, which honor fleet managers for their achievements in operating their fleets at peak performance. Cost-cutting measures, accident reduction strategies, and green initiatives were among the categories recipients excelled in.

The winners are:

Total Cost Management: David Williams, ResCare, whose implementation of best practices in vehicle selection, out of stock management, and safety helped reduce his company's overall fleet expenses by 25 percent from 2008 to 2009.

Risk and Safety: Krista Davis, NuStar Energy, who led the company's efforts to improve driver safety through a holistic safety program and a major focus on driver training. Thanks to her leadership, her company's average accident rate fell by 32 percent and accidents per million miles by 27 percent, despite the increase in number of miles driven.

Fuel & Green: Diane Lopez, Abbott, who led Abbott's fleet environmental leadership initiatives, found creative ways to improve the environmental performance of the fleet without increasing fleet costs, and continued to achieve impressive results over several years.

Productivity: Mike Lahr, LKQ Corporation, who helped pilot the PHH's telematics service in his fleet to meet the company's productivity challenges. As a result of those efforts, LKQ increased the number of stops its fleet drivers were able to make per day, dramatically reduced overtime costs, improved driver safety, and reduced fuel costs.

Lifetime Achievement: Greg Asadoorian, Invensys, was recognized as an outstanding fleet manager and a leader, mentor and resource to the fleet industry for nearly 30 years.  As director - global fleet for Invensys, Asadoorian has handled the company fleet for 26 years, taking on the Invensys global fleet responsibilities in 1999. In addition to North American fleet operations, he previously was responsible for Corporate Travel, Real Estate.

"We congratulate these consummate fleet professionals, who always look for the best practices and innovative solutions that will bring the best results for their fleet," said Steve DiBiagio, senior vice president, business development for PHH Arval. "Their efforts have led to measurable improvements in important areas of their fleets and added tremendous value to their own companies."
