LISLE, IL --- MicroSun Technologies, a leading manufacturer of advanced lithium ion battery packs and smart charging devices, said the company has reached its $500/kWh goal for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) applications. The company intends to further expand its presence in emerging electric vehicle (EV) applications.

MicroSun said it has produced a cost-effective, high-power battery system that addresses thermal safety, individual cell balancing and high current output. This battery system was successfully test-driven and meets the goal of $500/kWh, the company said.

MicroSun CEO Alan ElShafei attributed the design breakthrough to the company's experience in "developing innovative power solutions for a wide range of industries."

MicroSun applies this design expertise in "selecting the ideal chemistry and in designing packs and charging systems into the HEV/PHEV and other electric drive applications," he added.
