2014 Cadillac ELR Luxury Car

General Motors introduced its 2014-MY Cadillac ELR, an extended-range electric vehicle (similar to the Volt) slated to go on sale in early 2014. The vehicle features a 1.4L gasoline generator and electric motors for propulsion, and GM said the Cadillac ELR has an all-electric range of 35 miles. Chesapeake's Natural Gas-Fueled Vehicles

FedEx's subsidiary FedEx Express is replacing 4,000 vehicles in its fleet. The new vehicles consist primarily of BlueTEC clean diesel Sprinter vans, but the company is also adding Navistar eStar all-electric delivery vehicles, Freightliner eCells, and Ford Transit Connect Electric vans.

What will drive this paradigm shift is that future autonomous vehicle design will focus primarily on the passenger and not the driver. This will create a tectonic shift in vehicle design with ramifications that will take decades to fully play out.
