National University has acquired 26 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrids to replace its current vehicle fleet that serves the university’s more than two dozen campuses throughout the state of California, the university announced.

The private nonprofit university is believed to currently have the largest fleet of these Honda models in California. The company car fleet is used by National University employees who regularly travel to the university’s multiple campus locations.

The Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid is rated by the EPA with a maximum EV mode driving range of 13 miles and a gasoline fuel-economy rating of 47/46/46 mpg (city/hwy/combined). Additionally, California consumers can enjoy a $1,500 state rebate and a $3,626 federal tax credit, along with single occupancy access to high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) carpool lanes.

The California Air Resources Board is encouraging the adoption of zero-emission vehicles, with a goal of 1.5 million on the roads statewide by 2025.
