ITS Technologies and Logistics and Orange EV proved that its battery-electric terminal truck can complete a regular shift on a single charge. The Riverside, Mo.-based Orange EV introduced the new truck in May.

The T-Series is a heavy-duty, battery-electric truck designed to replace diesel-powered trucks for warehouse/transportation, intermodal, manufacturing and parcel delivery terminal operations.

The truck lifted and pulled the gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 81,000 pounds at the site-designated 20 mph, according to the company. The pilot test also made the terminal truck complete 400 total runs and lift oversized loads on a single charge.

The T-Series is a retrofit solution whereby Orange EV converts existing diesel-powered terminal trucks to pure electric, replacing the powertrain and control systems while refurbishing the rest of the truck to like-new condition. This conversion approach recycles and reuses the chassis and other durable components, eliminating waste and extending the life of the truck, the company says.
