The Sweden-based home furnishing retailer recently added four Blink electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at one of its Chicago-area stores as part of its partnership with Car Charging Group, Inc. IKEA began adding EV charging stations at its stores in 2011, which also includes locations in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington.

IKEA also recently completed installation of a pair of charging stations at a store in Houston. This brings the total to more than 13,750 charging points in 35 states and three countries. The company has plans to complete installations at 55 total locations in the U.S.

"IKEA, drawing from its Swedish heritage and respect of nature, believes it can be a good business while doing good business and aims to minimize impacts on the environment," stated the company in a recent press release.

The company has also installed solar panels at more than 90 percent of it locations in the U.S.
