Toyota Motor Sales will debut its hydrogen-powered FCV concept sedan at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, the automaker announced Wednesday.

Unveiling the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle at an electronics show rather than an automotive show may seem like an odd choice for the automaker, who will provide more details about the vehicle at a Jan. 6 press conference. The company chose CES because it's "the biggest trade show in the world of any kind and it draws a global, tech-oriented audience," John Hanson, Toyota's national manager of advanced technology and business communications, told the San Jose Mercury News.

Toyota's FCV concept was initially shown at the Toyota Motor Show, which ended Dec. 1.
