Universal Lubricants’ executives and employees joined state and local officials to celebrate the grand opening of the first public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Wichita, Kan.

The fueling station is owned and operated by CNG Services LLC and supplied by Black Hills Energy who provide energy to more than 110,000 natural gas customers in Kansas.

The day-long grand opening event at 2950 N. Ohio St., located adjacent to Universal Lubricants’ headquarters and re-refinery in north-central Wichita, included remarks from local business and community leaders, a “Natural Gas Vehicles 101” presentation by experts from CNG Services and Black Hills Energy, a station tour, and displays of natural gas vehicles.

Universal Lubricants manufactures and distributes Eco Ultra Oil, a line of recycled motor oils, engine oils, and transmission fluids, including Eco Ultra CNG/LNG engine oil, which eliminates the use of petroleum products made from virgin crude in CNG fleets and vehicles.

The North Ohio street location is the first of five fueling stations CNG Services plans to open in the Wichita area over the next three years. In addition to Black Hills Energy, CNG Services’ natural gas suppliers will include Kansas Gas Service of Overland Park, which provides natural gas to communities throughout Kansas.
