New York City has launched an electric vehicle taxi pilot program that will put the Nissan LEAF into service on city roads. Six LEAF vehicles will go into service this spring as part of the program. The city also plans to install a number of CHAdeMO-based DC quick chargers that drivers of the LEAF taxis will use.

Using these chargers’ quick-charging feature, a driver can recharge the LEAF to 80% of its total charge in less than 30 minutes, according to Nissan.
