TORRANCE, CA – Enova Systems, Inc., a developer of proprietary hybrid electric and all-electric drive systems, has received further orders to supply drive systems components to Smith Electric Vehicles Corp., according to a March 5 press release.

Smith Electric Vehicles, a company that develops, produces, and sells zero-emission commercial electric vehicles, has deployed many vehicles utilizing Enova’s electric drive system. Its vehicles are designed to be an alternative to traditional diesel trucks and generate higher efficiency and a lower cost of ownership.

“Smith Electric Vehicles continues to show a strong commitment to both Enova and the electric vehicle segment,” said Mike Staran, CEO of Enova Systems. “We anticipate continued penetration and are pleased to be part of Smith’s strategy.”

Smith’s produces the Newton and the Edison; the company’s other recent announcement is its intention to deploy vehicles in the all-electric school bus sector.
