TOKYO, JAPAN – Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is in the process of developing a new electric light-duty work truck for launch in fiscal year 2012, Reuters reported, citing a news account from Japanese business daily Nikkei.

Mitsubishi hopes to sell 42,000 electric vehicles worldwide in fiscal year 2012, according to Nikkei. That’s double the number projected for fiscal year 2011.

Mitsubishi already manufactures two electric vehicles, the Mitsubishi i and the Minicab-MiEV.
