VESTAVIA HILLS, AL -- The city of Vestavia Hills, Ala., on Dec. 8 officially unveiled its propane-fueled police vehicles and fueling station, the Birmingham News reported

Vestavia Hills has converted 14 Ford Crown Victoria police vehicles to run on propane. Alliance Autogas handled the bi-fuel conversions and installed the propane autogas station at the city’s Public Works department facility.

The police car conversions were funded through a $81,200 federal grant, said Mark Denton, vice president of business development with Alliance AutoGas.

The city of Mobile and Lee County are also taking steps to convert fleet vehicles to run on propane autogas, Denton told the newspaper.
