PHOENIX – Total Transit captured the Blue Sky Award at the 24th annual Clean Air Campaign luncheon held last week by Valley Metro, the regional transit system serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. The awards recognize employers for their efforts to reduce vehicle emissions and traffic congestion in the region.

In 2008, Discount Cab, a subsidiary of Total Transit, purchased its first 10 Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles. Today, the hybrids make up 81 percent of the company's fleet of nearly 800 cabs.

"Valley Metro's Blue Sky Award isn't just an award, it's a tribute to all of the efforts being made by Total Transit company-wide to further our commitment to the environment," said Total Transit CEO Craig Hughes.
