DEARBORN, MI – Ford Motor Co. is expanding its range of vehicles with the EcoBoost engine, offering the fuel-efficient powertrain in the model-year 2012 Ford Edge and Explorer that are arriving in dealerships now.

Edge and Explorer are the first vehicles in North America to be offered with Ford’s new 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. The four-cylinder EcoBoost marks the next chapter in the company’s strategy to downsize engines and use turbocharging and direct injection to deliver both power and fuel economy, Ford said.

Ford has committed to offering EcoBoost engines in 90 percent of its global vehicle portfolio by 2013.

The full-size three-row Ford Explorer SUV and Edge two-row crossover are now available with an advanced 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine combining smaller displacement with a turbocharger and gasoline direct injection to provide the power of a normally aspirated V6 with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder engine, Ford said.
