WARRENDALE, PA - The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and SAE International will co-sponsor the 2nd Annual Electric Vehicle Safety Standards Summit Sept. 27-28 at the Marriott Detroit Renaissance Center Hotel in Detroit.

Like last year’s summit, this year’s event will provide a forum in which to develop safety codes and standards for electrified vehicles and their infrastructure.

Attendees will include safety specialists affiliated with vehicle and equipment manufacturers, fire protection agencies and government entities at the federal, state and local levels.

Day one of the summit will feature presentations and panel discussions from vehicle, infrastructure, emergency responder and support/end user representatives. These discussions will help initiate a series of work groups and cross-industry dialogue on day two.

Scheduled speakers include Robert C. Lange of Exponent Inc., Phil Gorney of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Oliver Hazimeh of PRTM Management Consultants, Rajesh Nagappala of General Motors, Robert Galyen of Magna E-Car, Ted Bohn of Argonne National Lab, and Alvaro Masias of Ford Motor Co.

A sponsored reception, featuring a Chevy Volt safety walk-through as well as tours of the GM On-Star Command Center, will be held on Tuesday evening, Sept. 27.
