INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Department of Transportation and other agencies are converting at least 227 Ford vans and trucks from gasoline to also run on propane, according to The Indianapolis Star.

The conversions will be done by Union City, Ind.-based Productive Concepts Inc. The State has received federal funding for the conversions and for about 115 propane filling stations statewide. The first 100 vehicles are due around Oct. 31.

The propane autogas conversion is part of a $22.8 million Alternative Fuel Vehicle conversion project that includes the conversion of some 900 vehicles as well as infrastructure improvements, according to a release from the Indiana's Office of Energy Development.
