ITASCA, IL - The National Safety Council (NSC) is partnering with the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) to provide NSC members with the opportunity to participate in the NETS fleet safety benchmarking program, Strength in Numbers.

Organizations will be able to benchmark their fleet's performance against other participants on 25 fleet safety program elements, such as driver training programs, crash review practices, leadership engagement, and cell phone policies. More than 36 companies with a combined fleet of 350,000 participated in 2008, according to NSC.

The program also provides several other benefits, including:

  • One free invitation to the NETS annual Fleet Safety Best Practices Conference on Oct. 13-14, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. (NETS also will present its findings from this year's benchmarking program during a technical session at the NSC 2010 Congress & Expo.)
  • Monthly subscription to the RoadSmart e-newsletter.
  • Access to members-only section of the NETS Web site to view past benchmarking reports, discuss best practices, and more.
  • Opportunity to network with other NETS members who share a commitment to roadway safety.

The benchmark survey is conducted annually. The fee to participate is $990 per year. NSC members receive a 10-percent discount for a total cost of $890 per year. Additional information is available at http://trafficsafety.org/national-safety-council-member.
